This is the letter being distributed by the National Capital Commission to protesters in Confederation Park:
NOTICE
To all persons:
The National Capital Commission (NCC), the registered owner of the lands
known as Confederation Park, hereby gives notice to all persons that no
person is permitted to camp or erect a tent in Confederation Park.
All persons who are camping or have erected a tent must cease these
activities in Confederation Park immediately.
All tents, structures, equipment, debris and other personal belongings used
for these activities must be removed from Confederation Park on or before
11:59 pm on November 21, 2011, failing which, the NCC, its agents or
peace officers, may take the necessary steps to remove all such items
without further notice and at the owner’s risk. All such items will be kept in
storage for a period of up to 15 days. Arrangements for pickup can be made
by calling the NCC information line at 613-239-5000.
This notice is also given pursuant to the Trespass to Property Act, R.S.O
1990, c. T.21, as amended, and further to the National Capital Commission
Traffic and Property Regulations, C.R.C., c. 1044, section 38. Please be
advised that this notice may be enforced in accordance with the provisions
of the Trespass to Property Act or by any other means available to the NCC.

Ken Gray is an Ottawa journalist who was the Citizen’s city editorial page editor, municipal affairs reporter and a member of the newspaper’s editorial board. As well, Gray founded and taught a course in media law and municipal government at Algonquin College.
